"Miss Nelson, 1966"

Miss Lorraine Holland, a type-setter at the "Nelson Evening Mail", will represent the province at the national "Miss New Zealand" contest. She was chosen from a group of 14 of Nelson's most attractive young ladies at a "Miss Nelson Ball" organised by Nelson Round Table. Unlike other years when few entrants came forward, this contest was no cut and dried affair. The contestants, sponsored by local firms, paraded in bathing costumes and then ball gowns, concluding their appearances before the judging panel with an interview designed to display their personality, with compere John Wheeler. We extend congratulations to all entrants and to Round Table, for making this such a memorable night.
