Maitai Pipeline
Another stage in the completion of the Maitai water supply scheme is being undertaken at present with the laying of a 30-inch main along Brook Street. The pipeline will travel along Bronte Street and eventually will be coupled to the main leading into the Thompson Terrace reservoir.

"A plumber's nightmare" was how this intricate system of by-passes and pressure apparatus was described to us.
The pipeline, descending from the hills on the eastern side of Brook Street, crosses the Brook stream where it is connected to the "plumber's nightmare" and then follows the stream towards Bronte Street.
