Visitors to Nelson who have used the Nelson motor camp for many years will get quite a shock when they arrive for their annual vacation. Sweeping changes have occurred since the last holiday season, particularly around that area leading into the camp proper. Many trees have been felled, ground has been levelled and sowed, motels built and the whole area spruced up. The general effect is most pleasing and we're sure that campers will appreciate the sunnier aspect and additional amenities. The view at top is across the ornamental flower bed in the courtyard below the main office, towards an area which last year was a mass of trees. This year the Tahnua Sands Association invested in 100 sheep and they've done a good job acting as four-legged lawnmowers

Much of the area where the motels have been sited was previously used as a canvas-town for the younger generation (the motels will all be ready for occupation during the vacation season).
