Port Slipway Nears Completion
The Nelson Harbour Board's new slipway to handle vessels up to 80 tons is nearing completion. The only major work left to complete is the extension of the traverse to 250ft, enabling vessels to be handled into ship builders' yards.
Powerful winches have been installed

This traverse will enable ships to be dragged up the slipway and on to the traverser which in turn will be pushed along the rails into yards which shipbuilders will be establishing at the site.
