A Century of Educational Service

For four days late in February, Takaka was ruled by its district high school. In this time former pupils- of the school still living in Takaka and those from many other parts of New Zealand (500 in all) celebrated the 100th birthday of the school, The celebrations were a tremendous success, due mainly to excellent organising of the many functions held, to the weather and to the festival spirit that prevailed. Present also was the Minister of Education (Mr Tennent) and Mrs Tennent. All the pictures on the next four pages were taken by John R. Sharp, Motueka.
