New School Serves a Growing Area

To cater for the rapid development of Stoke as a residential area, the Nelson Education Board has built a new three-classroom primary school on Nayland road. The school which has a roll of more than 100, was officially opened by the Minister of Education (Mr W. B. Tennent) early last month during a brief but busy visit to the province. The board plans to build a further three in the area, including an intermediate school and a post-primary school. The school at present caters for children up to Standard 3 level, but a further two classrooms are to be built this year to accommodate higher classes.
