"Breath of Spring"
For four nights, from August 28, the Wakefield Country Players will present "Breath of Spring", a rollicking comedy about a group of genteel but impecunious gentlefolk who "lift" fur coats to raise money for charity. We saw something of the play at a rehearsal recently and can guarantee patrons of the group a good laugh. The play is being produced by Gwenneth Filer.
Dame Beatrice (Nan Sowman) finds herself with a new fur, but maid Lily (Helen Shuttleworth), not long out of prison, acts innocent.
Another blazing row between the retired Brigadier (Dan Hutcheson) with Miss Hatfield (Ruth Bennington), finds Dame Beatrice quite bored.
A good haul of furs after the Brigadier's finely-planned raids, finds conspirators Lady Alice (Val Eden), Dame Beatrice, and the Brig in a very happy mood.

Dame Beatrice throws a wingding in an effort to divert the attention of Police Inspector Pape (Keith Anderson) and Constable (Jack Granger) while Lily slips out to hide the loot.
Nanette Parry (Nola Holcroft) attempts to stop the law from leaving the room
