Car Racing At Tahuna

Nell Stuart in his reliable V8 Stuart Special again romped home in the Queen's Birthday weekend South Island beach title race at Tahuna Beach, The Special sounded fairly sick for the whole journey, but it kept going and when its main opposition, the Stanton Special of Charlie Bensemann's, spun out at a bend when it held a 300 yard lead, there was nobody left to challenge the Stuart Special's power, diminished though it may have been. Fine weather and a good track favoured the Nelson Car Club for its annual South Island title fixture and both entries and the crowd were large.
