Water, Water Everywhere

Just as there's gold in them thar hills, so also there's water aplenty in the ground. The only problem - and with the tomato growers in Nelson it is a real problem - is how to find it. And that's where Ian Gibbard comes in. Ian has been blessed with just the right amount of radiation sensitivity (which everyone has to a lesser or greater degree) to enable him to divine water and other materials. And he's no quack diviner, either. He is the holder of a certificate from the British Radiesthesia Association attesting to his powers. It can only be obtained upon definite proof being given of his discoveries. Above is a typical example. On the property of Mr Frank Di Leva in Cambria Street, Ian pinpointed an underground stream which is giving Mr Di Leva a water supply of 5000 gallons an hour. So sensitive is Ian, that he can locate water on a property by the use of a survey map of the property or an aerial photograph.

Having located the water Ian now uses acro-probes to ascertain its depth and rate of flow.

Using a pendulum over a survey map, and with a sample of water alongside, Ian locates water on a property.

The last step in the chain - the drilling rig moves in.
