Nelson's Music Industry

There's no denying that music is big business today. Thousands of pounds are spent annually in New Zealand on records and many more thousands on radios, record players and radiograms. To satisfy the demand for musical appliances, record companies and radio manufacturers have established businesses in many parts of the country, but it wasn't until recently that we learned that here in Nelson a firm, Heinz Electronic Industries, had also entered this very competitive market. The firm makes transistorised record players, AC operated record players in three models and guitar amplifiers. Not only are the machines assembled here, but they are designed here and the casings and cartons used for packing are also of Nelson manufacture. So far the company has made about 3000 machines and they are selling well.
