Walking Around New Zealand

Many years ago, doctors sought from the parents of a lad suffering from a bad leg complaint, permission to cut off this member. The parents left the decision to the boy and he refused. Today, the leg which doctors wanted to remove, is carrying Mr A. H. Reed, 84-year-old founder of New Zealand's best-known publishing house, on a walk from North Cape to the Bluff, He commenced his South Isand part of the journey when he was landed by yacht at Cape Farewell last month. He spent a day in Nelson before setting out from Motueka for Canterbury, via the West Coast.
