Another Challenge Repulsed

Rain interfered with play in the Hawke Cup game between Nelson and Manawatu, but Nelson, in scoring 271 in its first innings and dismissing Manawatu for 152 in its innings, won on the first innings and so retained the Hawke Cup. It was the 12th successive challenge for the shield that Nelson has repulsed. Only one further challenge is to be met this season - against Franklin.
