A very valuable subterranean plant that seldom sees the light of day we found growing out of the footpath in Washington Road recently. At one time it was an extremely rare plant. It is best known by its Latin name, telephonus communicate cableorum. (By kind permission of the growers, P. and T. Department).

There were several changes in the administration of scouting at district level last month, Reg Page was made area treasurer and public relations officer, Merv Stewart was made area assistant commissioner, Sea Scouts. In many places throughout New Zealand, the arum lily is considered a weed, but there's no gainsaying the fact that this display, extending over half a mile in Lower Queen Street, Richmond, is an eye-catcher.
