Through the generosity of an old boy, Mr James Borron, a planter in the Fiji group, pupils of Nelson College now have two tangible and very valuable reminders of the illustrious namesake of their city and college. After presenting a painting of Nelson receiving his first commission in 1758, Mr Borron followed up this £400 gift with a true scale model of Nelson's flagship Victory costing about £400, Rear Admiral R. Washbourn, Chief of Naval Staff, attended the handing over ceremony on Trafalgar Day and spoke to the school on Nelson.
