College Boxing Titles

The Nelson College boxing championship was won this year by D. Woolford who beat D Baird on points in the final. In his early bout with G. Thomas, Woolford showed himself to be a very scientific boxer who wasted few blows. The final, unfortunately, was a very dull affair, with each boxer waiting for the other to take the initiative. But if the open grade final was quiet, the same could not be sold for some of the lighter weights where contestants fought hard and well. The award for the most scientific boxer went, to G. Walsh, who won his semi-final and final bouts in convincing manner.
