The Heroes' Return

With the Seddon Shield and various other trophies, the triumphant Golden Bay-Motueka Rugby team returned to a heroes' welcome at Motueka, The pipe band and hundreds of supporters were out in force and the boys were kings of the bays for the night. Sad to relate, the Bays were unable to stave off the challenge of West Coast a fortnight later and so the shield continues its round of the unions. Probably the scenes at Greymouth, for the return of the West Coast team, were very similar to those depicted on this page. (All pix by John R. Sharp).

It will be appreciated!
