The Port Lincoln outlined against a noonday sun as she entered Port Nelson last month.
Nelson came close to going up with a huge bang earlier this month when a section of the gasometer in Haven Road caught fire while repairs were being made to the tank. Very quick work by the Fire Brigade, however, soon brought the fire under control.
Murray Hedwig, aged 14, received a £50 special purpose Post Office Savings Bank account from Mr I. K. Harris (Foodstuffs, Wellington) as the first prize in the national Four Square water safety poster competition. Murray beat 999 other competitors for the prise. Also present were Messrs S. A. Whitehead M.P. and J. A. Coates, manager of the Four Square store at Annesbrook where the presentation took place.
