Interflora Conference

×

For nearly a week, the accent in Nelson was upon flowers, for it is in this beautiful commodity that the Interflora organisation deals. Usually when a conference is held, the public has little opportunity of taking part or observing the work taking place. The Interflora conference was very different. The works of floral art created by staff members from all parts of the Dominion were on display to the public and the conference was wound up with a gala night during which flowers and hair-styling were combined. The gala night was a tremendous success as the pic at left shows. Many were turned away. The hair styling was carried out by two American experts Ruth Snider, (Helene Curtis) and Angelo (Clairol). Above are the girls who submitted their heads to the deft touches of the experts.

The manner in which Ruth Snider and Angelo went about their various complex duties astonished many. The styles used were many and varied and they showed that not only the young can look glamorous after a hair do. That hair do of Ruth's, incidentally, is not really a hair do. It's a wig.
