Reports from all over New Zealand of large numbers of sharks cruising: close to shore and the fatality at Dunedin have had their effect upon attendances at Tahunanui beach. On a very hot Saturday afternoon recently we took the picture at left. Few bathers went beyond knee depth. Above, Brian Lesaels on duty during the lookout being kept by the Tahuna Surf Club. Most bathers found the Maitai River at Black Hole a Much safer proposition. In recent weekends it has been crowded.
