Opened at the conclusion of the 1960 school year, the new swimming pool at Waimea College will provide much-needed amenities for pupils of the college and the adjoining intermediate school this year. What is more, the pool was opened free of debt as a result of the financial assistance of Richmond residents who supported the Richmond Jaycee mystery envelope project. This scheme raised £1600, £800 of which was for the pool and the other £800 for the Y.M.C.A.
