Greasy Track For Car Races

Underfoot or undertire conditions were slightly more damper than damp when the Nelson Car Club held the first of its two meetings over Christmas. Heavy rain the previous night and a very high tide inundated the track and, as can he seen from the pics on this page, time trials in the morning were held under atrocious conditions. The main event of the meeting, the New Zealand beach racing championship, was again won by Neil Stuart, of Christchurch, in his Stuart Special. He led all the way.

Spins on the track were quite commonplace

The track improved for the afternoon's racing and was reasonably dry when Neil Stuart (extreme right) led E. J. Norriss, and Giff Tait round the eastern bend in the big race.

Giff Tait came home second but with some expensive sounding noises under the hood
