Latest In Launches

We've seen quite a few new launches hit the water for the first time in the last few years, but the venture of Dorman Engineering Ltd in building an all-steel 38ft launch was entirely new. Early last month this beautiful six-berth craft slid down a new slip laid at the rear of the firm's premises on the reclamation. It was a big day for Tom Dorman for this type of construction was entirely new in Nelson and the Katoomba, as she was named, could well be the forerunner of other vessels built by the company for commercial fishing or pleasure.

The two pictures above and at left on this page and the top left picture on the second page were taken for us by Geoff Tuffnell.
