The remains of the 1948 Chevvie owned by Dennis Schwass, the city council's caretaker at the Maitai waterworks. The vehicle, with an attached trailer, became stuck while crossing Smith's Ford and was abandoned for s time. When Dennis returned, rising flood waters had almost covered the car and it was not possible to extricate it. It disappeared later, only to emerge in this condition about a quarter of a mile downstream. Nothing has since been seen of the trailer.
