The Scots Have a Fling

Every year it's the same - if you don't get in early and get your ticket, you miss out on the Highland Ball. Why? The answer, we think, lies in the slightly different atmos-phere at the ball. The splash of colour normally provided by the ladies' frocks is heightened at this ball by the tartans that abound everywhere, and the skirl of the pipes and the drums somehow add to the gaiety. This year's ball was no exception. It went with a swing from go to woe.
