Combined Banks Ball

The Space age was featured at this year's ball of the Nelson combined banks. Hundreds of gently twirling stars and planets surrounded the centre-piece of decorations - rockets aimed at a glowing moon - and the decorations on stage added to the atmosphere. In short, a tremendous amount of work was put into the decorations at the Stoke Hall by the organising committee. It was not wasted. The hall was packed and the ball went with a swing.

Much of the success of the ball was due to the swinging combo of Trev Woodhouse (piano) and his boys, Ron Carmody, Tom Brough, Garth Simpson and Bill Beveridge.

Happy faces of Dawn and Graham Newton, and Zillah and Bruce Bealing (Bruce was chairman of organising committee).

Nelson and Kath Crosbie, Jeanette Cusdin, Dianna Unsworth and Errol Hanna turned on a grin for us.

Judy Shanahan, Arnold and Ella Angelo, and "Rusty" Adams enjoyed themselves

Daphne Digby, Audrey Forbes, Morris Digby (N.S.W. Bank, Hastings), and Ron Leckie (National) who has been transferred to Hokitika.
