This very interesting old pic taken from the west side of Church Hill and showing the girls' college, is believed to show this area as it was 75 to 80 years ago. The original picture belongs to Mr G. R. Jamieson, 25 Wellington Street. The building at extreme right is the old Jewish syna-gogue.

The girls' college building is still in this pic taken earlier this month, from about the same position as that of the older picture. But what a difference. Now the Nelson Bowling Club has its lovely grounds where once was bare ground, and the background area is occupied by houses.
