Snooker Tournament

The Nelson Club had its revenge recently. For two years the R.S.A. snooker team lifted the George Manson Cup, the symbol of snooker supremacy. But it was a tight finish, the Nelson Club team winning by only 7 games to 5. Nobody, however, seemed to worry. While the snooker teams were hard at it, lots of other club members were enjoying themselves in the cosy, spacious lounge with darts and cards.

The losers, R.S.A. team: Harry Mason, "Curly" Richards, Frank Newman, Fred Potton, Allan Coventry, Ken McKenzie, Jack Puklowski, Ron Judge, Denk Glover, Bill Dickinson, Tom Quintrell, Keith Highett, Fred Wilkinson.

The winners, Clarrie Challies, Charlie Griffin, Alan Paterson, Percy Brunette, Gordon Smith, Noel Avery, Harry Orr, Doug Whitehead, Norm Rout, Charlie Duke, "Put" Boyes, Jim Fleming.

Who was sitting on the right bower? Pat McKinley, Jack Ching, Ivan Bannister, Norm Doig, Errol Fry and Tiny Meyer (who just managed to sneak into the pic) found this hand amusing.

Alan Greenslade, who helped to raise £4000 for the R.S.A. clubrooms, was made the gift of a gallon flagon of Scotch for his efforts by secretary John Clark.
