Nelson Cyclists Win Centre Final

Nelson A won the Wellington Centre Hope Gibbons Shield, the most important event in the amateur road cycling calendar, in the annual event held in Nelson. Eight teams competed, but none could match Nelson's performance – a magnificent one considering the conditions. A wind of 25 miles an hour blew throughout the 25-mile ride. Nelson A was third team to leave the mark, but was first home. It will represent Wellington on July 6th at Levin in the national Hope Gibbons race. We wish the team every success.
