Soccer Final

Nelson Rangers retained their unbeaten record when in the final of the northern section of the National Chatham Cup series they beat Motueka 2-1 after a tense game. Extra time had to be played. Motueka was first to score after a scoreless first half, but Rangers equalised a few minutes after. It was not until the game had entered the extra time stage, however, that O. Bajema scored the deciding goal for Rangers. Motueka, a newly re-formed club, sorely tried Rangers and impressed with the brand of soccer they played. Rangers will now play the winner of the section in Christchurch.

The three pictures running diagonally down this page show how Motueka's goal was scored.
