Sea Scouts Beat Navy

The senior crew of the Iron Duke Sea Scouts retained the R. M. S. Darro Shield when it had the best of a crew from the Kaniere in a mile-long race. It maintained the record of the Iron Duke Scouts of having never been beaten by a naval crew. The crew, rowing four, had been training hard for the annual sea scouts regatta to be held at Akaroa.

The race provided a very tight finish as these pictures show. The junior crew, rowing five, also came very close to winning.
