Holiday Stew
Well, the mad rush of Christmas and New Year has gone and so also have the thousands of holiday-makers who invaded Nelson. In these three pages we wound up the holiday period with odd shots taken at the many functions during the period.

Local M. P., Stan Whitehead, dressed for the occasion when he presented prizes in the Mr. Tahuna contest at the beach. What a beautiful muscle, Stan. Winner John Ward, is on his right.
The "Nelson Crew", all drawn from the good ship Jaycee, pulled into Wakefield Quay one morning and proclaimed its intention of running a Mardi Gras in the New Year. They did, too, and it was a beauty.
Spotted at Lake Rotoiti, the White (Nelson) and Edmonds (Petone) families: Suzanne, David, Graham, Arch White, Mrs Edmonds and Mary, Muriel White and Helen, Robyn and Eric Edmonds at back.

Also at Lake Rotoiti, were the young fry: Donald Cooper, Dennis Long, Bob Cooper, and Valeri Campbell and Val Tempero (Oamaru), and at back, Helen Black and Paddy Westley, of Nelson.
Alan Peterson uses a microport to pick up Peter Snell's words of wisdom after the big race. The microport transmitted the interview to the roof of the grandstand and then relayed over the air.
King Neptune (Ron King) had some difficuity persuading daughter Madeline that the man in the smelly seaweed was really Dad.
For a split second we took time off from watching the finish of the 4 x 1 mile relay to take a look at the lookers
