A well-known sight in the Golden Bay for several months was Jimmy Pripp, naturalised Dane, and his two horses, Jimmy, who comes from the North Island, set out to see New Zealand and for the last two years he has done so by this means.

During the aero club's camp, the club found that a visiting member, a signwriter by trade, was only too pleased to lay out the club sign on the hangar. So members got to work and today, visitors arriving at Nelson by air, can see the sign for miles.
