Travel Week

Tourism is big business these days and the more visitors we can attract to New Zealand, and particularly to Nelson, the more the country's and the province's finances benefit. In Nelson last month, the New Zealand Travel and Holiday Association sponsored its "Travel Week", a week devoted to making Nelsonians tourist-conscious. As well as displays in city store windows, a luncheon at which about 140 guests were present, and four travel competitions, were held. The luncheon was addressed by Sir Leonard Wright, of Dunedin. Prizes in the four competitions were presented at the interval of a special showing of travel films at the Majestic Theatre. The bottom pics are of some of the competition winners.
