We may have lost the Seddon Shield during the month, but thanks to the Nelson women's indoor basketball team we picked up the national women's title, even if it was shared with Wellington and Otago. The team, with its trophy on return to Nelson, is: Joan Clark, Helen Strang, Dorothy Goodman, Hilary Hurst, Jill Gay, Irene Brough, Pat Lawther, Vera Zachariassen, Sandra Prestidge, and Mrs Zena Gay, New Zealand Association president.

A major landscape change at the intersection of Rutherford Street, Examiner Street, and Waimea Road occurred recently when five old houses were demolished. It is reported that the section is to be sub-divided into three sections, two for residential purposes and the corner section for a multi-storey block of flats.
