The Nelson Ski Club is another organisation to have suffered through the vagaries of the weather this winter, but there was plenty of snow for the ski championships. The women's section was won by Cynthia Strachan (left) and the men's by Graham Sisson. (John Bradley Pix).

When the edge of the road gave way, a trailer bringing a 10-ton load of poles to Nelson tipped over the bank, taking its load with it. Fortunately a six-ton lift mobile crane was obtainable and this had little difficulty in returning trailer and poles to the road, (Pic by N. M. McLaren).
