Fun and games in Nile Street East recently when high tension power lines shorted by a transformer. The fire brigade turned out (so did hundreds of children) but there was more smoke than fire and the trouble was soon fixed.

Michael and John Levy, of Richmond, who entertained youngsters with a puppet play during Book Week, John, Std.3, Richmond School, made the puppets and put on the show with Michael providing some of the voices.

Among the many road works being completed in the city at present is the kerbing and channelling of road on the western side of Trafalgar Square.
