The exceptionally heavy rain this winter has highlighted the need for some form of scouring control in the Maitai River at its outlet by the new small - boat harbour. The harbour board is endeavouring to solve the problem with a weir close to the outlet. Here the pile driver is doing preliminary work on the site.
