"The Boy Friend"

The Nelson Amateur Operatic Society's major project for 1960 was the presentation of the musical comedy "The Boy Friend" in the Theatre Royal. Excellent houses for each of the nine performances testified to the popularity of the production. The show, set in the roaring 1920's when fashions were really out of this world, met with unqualified success abroad, and has been staged by operatic societies throughout many parts of New Zealand. Theatre goers are eagerly awaiting the society's next production and if the cast can reproduce the verve and quality of singing of "The Boy Friend", it, and the public, can be assured of some further excellent entertainment.
