Modern Pavilion for United Bowling Club

The United Bowling Club has a beautiful new pavilion, and its members did not have to mortgage body and soul to get it. Voluntary labour given by the male members over a year has provided a £3500 pavilion for £1550.

Their efforts are even more praiseworthy in that no professional carpenters were among their number. Climax to all this work came last month with the official opening of the building and the 196O–61 bowling season.

The women's section of the club played its part in the erection of the new building. Hundreds of scones and gallons of tea were brewed throughout the year while the men were on the job. The opening of the women's season is depicted here.
