Erosion at Tahuna

High spring tides, but one in particular, wreaked havoc with Tahunanui beach and the protective manuka fence this month. In places the flood tide waters carried away 20ft of beach sand and in other areas bit deeply into the dunes. This erosion problem is being studied at present and it is to be hoped that something - possibly a big sea wall - can be erected to prevent this extremely valuable Nelson asset from slipping back into the sea.
