The area around McGlashen Quay was a pretty busy place during the month. While the Danish vessel, the Kaethe Jebsen was loading logs, the suction dredge was working in preparation for the extension of the quay, and the dredge, Tasman Bay, was tidying up before departing for Lyttleton to undergo an overhaul.

The Nelson City Council's $12, 000 paving plant had a slow and cautious trip from Christchurch, where it was made, to Nelson, via the Lewis Pass. The plant has now been set up on the reclamation by the gasworks and probably by the time of publication of this issue will be operating.
