The Freedom of the City

Exercising its right of the Freedom of the City under the charter granted it by the city council in 1958, the 1st Battalion, Nelson-Marlborough-West Coast Regiment marched through the city "with colours flying, drums beating and bayonets fixed", last month. This was the first occasion on which the battalion exercised this right. It was an Impressive ceremony and reflected high credit on officers and men.
