Arthur Lydiard, famed the world over now as coach of Murray Halberg, Peter Snel and Barry Magee, visited Nelson last month on a lecture tour of the Dominion. He is seen here with junior milers Ian Wells, B. Price, Des Coad and George Griffiths at an evening meeting of the Nelson Athletic and Cycling Club. At right he is watching Coad during the running of the junior mile. Coad has already achieved prominence as an up-and-coming middle-distance runner.
