Pets on Parade

Goats, possums, dogs, guinea pigs and even a tortoise were on show at the annual S.P.C.A. pet parade, at Nelson Intermediate. This event is designed to encourage children to look after their animals as pets and not as show pieces, and it certainly attracts a multitude of animals.

His polished shell glistening, 'Torty', the tortoise, smiles (guess you could call it that) for the camera. The proud owner is Graeme Malone

Meet 'Norton', the opossum, who seems very much at home crawling all over his foster mother, Christine Small

One of the cutest pups at the parade was 'Tammie," a terrier cross, shown here with owner Andrew Cooper

'Lilly,' the goat, really turned her nose up at the whole affair. Holding the restraining rope is Steven Harvey

'Puffet,' the guinea pig, eyes the camera suspiciously. He's owned by Sarah Godsiff
