Wakefield Methodist Church Centenary
The Wakefield Hall was the scene for a reunion dinner and grand concert to mark the centenary of the Methodist Church in the town. Many former parishioners and some former ministers attended the cele-brations, and telegrams from many more were sent from numerous parts of New Zealand.

Among those who attended were three sisters of the Wilkens family, Mesdames Jean Thomas, Ena Hoskin and Ayleen Smart. Their father was organist at Wakefield for many years
