Naptha Plant Opened

The city's gas works took on a new look recently, when the century-old production of coal gas ended. About 50 people attended the official opening of the gas works' naptha plant by the Mayor, Roy McLennan. The official party comprised the Mayor, the chairman of the City Council's gas committee, Seddon Marshall, city engineer Geoff Toynbee, the M.P. for Nelson, Stan Whitehead, and gas works manager Tim Rainey.
