Despite unfavourable weather the Boys Brigade turned out in force for the annual founders' day celebrations. These were held in Nelson on this occasion. This picture shows the parade drawn up at the Waimea Intermediate School. At left - is the Nelson team competing in the first-aid contest. On the improvised stretcher is Jim Scott and carrying him, Roger Nicholson, Gordon Keelty, Grame Ericson and Adrian Skilton. At left Divisional Officer Bob Crawford of St Johns surveys their handiwork.

The old Willomee, owned by the Pearl Kasper Shipping Company, is no stranger to Nelson, but shortly little of her will be seen in her home port for she is to be put on the Wellington-Lyttelton run and her place on the Wellington-Nelson run taken by the Steel-built Konanda. This vessel had left Australia for Nelson when this issue was going to press.
