Nelson Wallops Wellington

Nelson stock car drivers have given their Wellington counterparts the message. The Tasman boys are no longer country cousins (not on their own tracks at least). The highly rated Wellington team, Wynn's, was soundly trounced by the Tasman Stock Car Club in a two-meet Carter Cup contest. Tasman led 11-4 after the first event, and a week later really thumped the message home by making a clean sweep of the final race. Only five cars were left at the finish, and those five were the Tasman team. Wynn's drivers were relegated to spectators after their cars were pushed off the track by determined Tasman men. This was the first time in four years of annual competition that Tasman has won the event.
