Fine Performances In Inter-Primary Swimming
A nippy wind did nothing to prevent Nelson's younger swimmers from turning in some fine performances at the annual Inter-Primary School sports, held at the Hampden Street pool.
Karen Hughes (Hampden Street) won the under-11 50 yards freestyle
St Joseph's swimmer, Phillip Gladstone, was second in his heat of the backstroke event
A hard working organiser, Mr Colin Graham (Hampden Street) sorts out competitors for the next race
Avryl Hockey, one of Nelson's most promising young swimmers, touches to win the 10-years' backstroke. This was Avryl's fourth consecutive win in the inter-primary swimming. Avryl attends Hampden Street School.
Tony Nightingale (Hampden Street) wins the 10-years' and over breast-stroke final
