Logging Festival At The Downs

Golden Downs was the venue for a logging festival and field day recently. This was the grand finale to a week of conferences (and other social occasions) by members of the logging fraternity. The photographs on this page were taken by the local Cable Price representative, Darryl Marshall. The programme at the Downs included chopping, chain saw races, demonstrations of logging machinery and spar-raising.

Any guesses about the topic of conversation? Logging would be a safe one. From left, Dick Twistleton, Gisborne, Fred Willetts, Richmond, Allan Hawkins of Baigents, and Peter Mockett, the Cable Price rep. on the West Coast
